In Past

After decades since the movement emerged, why does its aesthetic and resonance persist? Amid urban life and fast media, punk culture emerged as inspiration from a long history of musical and visual movements. In today’s context, punk is no longer just about music and aesthetics. Punk is an attitude, an attitude that demands action towards change. Its movement spoke out the truth to fight conformists and change systematic viewpoints to become more critical. This subculture, which emerged as the antithesis of the status quo, has been given a label, eroded by misconceptions in stereotypical connotations that are synonymous with aggressive behaviour. Like a coin with two sides, without us realising the enormous impact of its movement, punk has become a significant sign in the cultural scene and an icon of activism itself.
